Day 2: Setting Your January Intentions the Witchy Way

By January 01, 2025 ,

Welcome back, magical souls! 🌙✨ Did you survive Day 1 of the New Year? Whether you started with a bang or spent the day in a blanket burrito, no judgment here. Today, we’re diving into intentions. Think of it as giving your goals a little sprinkle of witchy magic and clarity.

Grab your favorite drink, your journal, and maybe a cozy candle (because ambiance matters), and let’s get intentional!

What Are Intentions (and Why Are They Awesome)?

Intentions are like your magical GPS for the month—or the year if you’re feeling ambitious. They’re less about rigid “rules” and more about aligning your energy with what you truly want.

Think of it like this: resolutions are the “what,” but intentions? They’re the juicy, soul-driven why.

Interactive idea: Take a moment right now and think, What do I want to feel this month? Peace? Creativity? Confidence? Jot it down, and we’ll work some magic around it.

Crafting Intentions With a Witchy Twist

Setting intentions doesn’t have to be a big, dramatic ritual (though it totally can be if you’re feeling extra). Here’s a simple and fun way to weave a little magic into your day:

1. Pick Your Theme for January
Do you want this month to feel like a fresh start? A time to rest and recharge? Or maybe it’s about laying the groundwork for something big.

Interactive idea: Share your January theme in the comments (or your journal). Mine is “rooted”—because I want to focus on grounding myself after the holiday chaos.

2. Choose a Symbol
Symbols are like little visual reminders of your intention. It could be:

  • A candle to represent light and clarity.
  • A crystal like amethyst for calm or citrine for abundance.
  • A plant or seed to symbolize growth.

Interactive idea: What’s your symbol for January? If you don’t have one yet, take a look around your space—you’d be surprised how many magical items you already own!

3. Create a Mini Ritual
This doesn’t have to be fancy. Here’s an easy one:

  • Light a candle.
  • Hold your symbol in your hand (or just visualize it).
  • Say, “I set my intention for [your theme]. I invite [your desired feeling] into my life this month.”

Done! Easy, right?

Making It Stick

The real magic of intentions comes in the follow-through. Here are a few witchy ways to keep your intentions alive throughout the month:

  • Write them down and place them on your altar or mirror.
  • Pull a tarot card to give you insight or guidance.
  • Meditate with your symbol once a week to reconnect with your intention.

Interactive idea: Let’s make it fun—what’s one small, magical action you’ll take this week to honor your intention? I’m going to light a candle each evening and take a few deep breaths to stay grounded.

A Tarot (or Oracle) Pull for Day 2

Feeling extra witchy? Pull a card to guide your day or month. Ask something like, “What energy will support my January intention?” or “What should I focus on this week?”

Interactive idea: If you pull a card, let me know what you got! I pulled The Star this morning, which feels super aligned with fresh starts and hope.

Wrap-Up

And there you have it—your magical to-do list for Day 2. Setting intentions isn’t about perfection; it’s about showing up for yourself in small, meaningful ways. So go on, set those intentions, and let’s make January as magical as we are.

Blessed be, and see you tomorrow! 🌒🌕🌘

  1. Great ritual for my intention-setting this month! Thanks. I'm going to pull a tarot card, too (this week's action) for guidance.

  3. After reading your blog I pulled an oracle card from one of my Divine Masters decks and it is really speaking to me. I pulled Rumi, the description of the card speaks of using your voice to share important information without allowing restraints of tradition or society to stop you. It aligns as my blogging (just like my podcast and business) is about veganism, a topic many people wish would stop being talked about. It was the little reminder I needed today. 💚
