#Writing #AccountabilityChallenge

We all struggle to write and meet our own personal deadline. As I've mentioned before, I have an extremally demanding day job. The perk? I do work from home.

I want to start out small and will increase my goals as I am able. Then extend here as well for those of you that want longer challenges.

We will start with one hour sprints, Mon-Thurs from 5-6pm PST.

And Mon-Thurs from 2-3pm PST.

Briefing session each Friday from 8-8:30am PST and 1-1:30pm PST.

You are welcome to join one or both. You don't have to be in them all the time. If you can only make Monday one week and Thursday the next -- it's two hours of amazing progress and networking with other writers to discuss results, wins, opportunities, and misses after (Briefing session on Fridays).

We will begin this September 1 so we all have time to look over our calendars, set alarms & reminders, and fully prepare.

I hope you will join. We can discuss on twitter, on blog posts, etc

Additionally, please know that this doesn't have to be writing time. This can be an hour of those edits you need to do, an hour of proofreading, an hour of fact checking research. It only needs to be an hour of progress.

I would love for you to join my Triberr group if:

  • You are an author
  • You are a book blogger
Here's why:
  • It's fast
  • Membership is limited (so there are not 100 people to share from)
  • Retweeting in this manner tags others that you retweet - thus providing more views and connections on your own Twitter account
  • Triberr group chat area to discuss tip and tricks as well as to get support
  • Sharing both author tweets as well as book blogger tweets allow for more visibility for both
Come join me and give it a try!

#Metrics - How Well Does Twitter Promote Work? #WritingCommunity #Marketing

Ever wonder how well the Twitter Promote option works for getting visibility on your tweet? I have a Twitter acquaintance that was nice enough to share their metrics with me. Do you have an example? Please email me if you would like to share results: salemdevina@gmail.com

They ran their promo for 5 days at $10/day (though twitter's initial suggestion is $100/day).

As you can see, Twitter claims that 98% of the likes on their post came from the promotion.
64% or the 11 retweets came from the promotion. And 1/3 of the comments were a result of the promotion.

Looking closer, 91% (2354 of 2600) of the tweet impressions were from the promotion. They also claim that ALL of the engagement was due to their promote feature as well as 65% of the detail expansions.

In my opinion, it seems they are not directing toward the right audience based on used hashtags. If you can get over 2300 people to a tweet, why are there only 82 (0.036% of 2300) engagements and 16.9 (65% of 26) people to expand on the tweet?

Additionally, the 2300+ impressions from the tweet promotion gained them NO new follows as well about 2 (40% of 5) profile visits.

This tells me that TWO out over over 2300 (!!!) people actually looked into the person tweeting to find out more about them and the info they are providing within the tweet.

THIS IS A HUGE FAIL!!!!
Additionally NOT ONE of over 2300 decided to follow the user.
Is twitter using fake accounts to provide their metrics for their promote function?

The promoted to audience seems to be able 50/50.

They did select 18+ for their promotion. And they have been rethinking, since their tweet was to authors, to next time try 30+ -- possibly 20+

You can see here, it was only shared within their country.
Would it be better going to other countries who utilize the English language as well?

And this shows the actual number of engagements that the promote was to have provided.

I repeat: Is twitter using fake accounts/BOTS, rather than sharing with real contributors, to provide their metrics for their promote function?

How do I Help an #Author ( #aspiringauthor ) #WritingCommunity #ReadingCommunity #AuthorsofTwitter #IndieAuthor

It’s nothing new to hear that being an author – or trying to be one – can be stressful. Everyone wants to be able to live from doing what they love. Authors are no different.

They have the same pressure, plus deadlines (even if they are indie authors), trying to promote – and just wishing someone would notice them.

They start their social media accounts at 0. Some get lucky and someone finds them and decides to interact and share. Others sit on the sidelines hoping someone will look their way. With thousands of books released daily – it is a difficult world and many authors also hold full time jobs.

Here are some ways to help authors – most cost nothing!

1) See if they have a promo team or help them put one together – this team would re-share posts on any social platforms they are on and can even host virtual meet and greets with readers and the author – even if they haven’t published yet. It’s a great time to assist them in getting out there for their first release or pre-order.

2) Become a beta reader – unpaid position and tons of sneak looks at what they are writing along with the opportunity to give feedback on their stories – what you love, what you don’t, and where you would like to know more.

3) Get on their ARC team or help them build one – first looks at reads and the chance to be first publish reviews

4) Share their book covers

5) Share their social media and repost their content.

6) Comment on their social media posts, like their social media posts

7) Review their books and put the review on as many platforms as you can and share these reviews on social media.

8) Take a photo of their book while reading it and share on social media

9) Recommend their book to your local library – if the author is local, suggest a signing or meet and greet. If not, see if they are able to host a virtual Q&A or meet and greet.

10) Request to review their book

11) Place reviews or share the reviews from others as much as you can on social media platforms.

12) Have a local book store? Talk to them about carry the book, a meet and greet or signing (virtual or in person).

13) Host an author on your blog

14) Start a book club and feature them

15) Buy their book

16) Purchase and give their book as a gift to others (remember if you have an ARC copy, those are not to be given away)

17) Connect with the author on their social media platforms and share their platform with your connections.

18) Encourage them – even if they aren’t a personal friend. Kindness goes a long way

19) One more time – invite them to speak about their book or work in progress – anywhere and everywhere.

20) Encourage readers to purchase directly from the author when that is an option.

21) Keep their books, works in progress, social media accounts, etc in the public’s eye – rep their merchandise (bookmarks, stickers, mugs, t-shirts)

If you’ve made it this far, I thank you and authors everywhere appreciate you!
