Day 7: Embracing Rest as Winter’s Gift #blogboost

By January 06, 2025 ,

Hello again, my magical companions! 🌙✨ Can you believe it’s already Day 7 of our journey? We’ve done a lot of magical work this week—cleansing, setting intentions, connecting with nature, and working with the moon. Now, it’s time for something equally powerful: rest.

Rest is one of winter’s most underrated gifts. While nature hibernates and the days are shorter, it’s an invitation for us to slow down and recharge, too. So today, we’re embracing rest—not as laziness but as a sacred, magical act.

Why Rest is Magical

Think of rest as the pause between spells, the quiet before the incantation, the moment where magic gathers its strength. Without it, we’d be running on empty, and that’s not exactly a recipe for powerful witchcraft (or a happy life).

Interactive idea: What does rest look like for you? Is it curling up with a book, napping, or just zoning out in front of the TV with your favorite blanket? (I’m Team Blanket Burrito all the way!)

Step 1: Create a Restful Ritual

Even rest can have a touch of magic. Here’s a simple way to make your downtime feel sacred:

You’ll need:

  • A cozy blanket or chair
  • A candle or soft lighting
  • Your favorite soothing drink (tea, hot chocolate, or even a glass of wine)

Steps:

  1. Light the candle and say: “I honor this time to rest and restore. I release the need to do and embrace the need to be.”
  2. Wrap yourself in your blanket and let go of any guilt about taking a break.
  3. Spend at least 15 minutes doing something purely restful—no multitasking allowed!

Interactive idea: What’s your favorite way to spend restful time? I’m partial to a candlelit bath with a book and maybe a cheeky glass of wine.

Step 2: Listen to Your Body

Rest isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some of us recharge by being still, while others need movement like yoga or a brisk walk to quiet the mind. The key is to listen to what your body is asking for today.

Interactive idea: Take a moment to check in with yourself. How does your body feel right now? What’s one thing you can do to nurture it today?

Step 3: Dream Work

Winter nights are perfect for tapping into the magic of dreams. Whether you’re napping or settling in for the night, your dreams can offer powerful insights and healing.

Dream magic tips:

  • Keep a journal by your bed to jot down any symbols or feelings you remember.
  • Before sleep, set an intention like, “Show me what I need to know,” or “Help me release what no longer serves me.”
  • Place an amethyst or moonstone under your pillow for extra dream clarity.

Interactive idea: Do you remember your dreams often? If you’ve had a particularly magical one, feel free to share it (if you’re comfortable).

Step 4: Rest Without Guilt

This is the hard part, isn’t it? Society loves to make us feel bad for not “doing enough,” but here’s your reminder: Rest is productive. It’s how we recharge so we can create, love, and live fully.

Interactive idea: Let’s reframe rest as something powerful. Finish this sentence: “When I rest, I feel _______.” For me, it’s “When I rest, I feel ready to embrace the world again.”

Wrap-Up

Resting doesn’t mean stopping—it means allowing your energy to realign, your magic to grow, and your soul to breathe. So today, give yourself permission to pause.

What’s your favorite way to embrace rest in the winter? Let’s chat in the comments (or your journal), and I’ll see you tomorrow for more January magic.

Blessed be, and may your rest be deeply restorative! 🌒🌕🌘
